Fury makes surprising claim about potential Tommy vs Jake Paul fight

Tyson Fury believes that any bout between his half-brother Tommy and Jake Paul would be “even”.

The pair called each other out on Instagram and Twitter last week, with Tommy telling Paul he was prepared to face off against him.

However, the 24-year-old is yet to agree to a bout. In all likelihood, though, the two fighters aren’t going to call it a day anytime soon.

Both men have limited experience in the boxing ring, with Tommy having won five out of five professional fights. He most recently defeated Scott Williams via technical knockout last month.

Paul, meanwhile, has won both of his pro bouts.

The YouTuber is certainly attempting to make waves amongst the combat sports community. He has called out the likes of Conor McGregor and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in recent months.

“An interesting fight for boxing” – Fury

In an interview with iFL TV, Tyson Fury says that it would be both an “interesting fight” and “even” if Tommy and Paul did agree to take each other on.

He explained: “I think they’re both about the same kind of experience – had a few pro fights.

“Tommy had a limited amateur background, ten fights or something. I think it’ll be an even fight to be fair.

“[Paul]’s 6ft 1ins, 185lbs, can box, can fight.

“We’ve seen him knock people out, we’ve seen him in the gym sparring.

“So to knock out somebody who’s trying to win, it’s pretty hard, especially if you’re the same size and everything’s equal.

“I think it’ll be an interesting fight to watch and I think it’ll be an interesting fight for boxing because you’ve got two celebrities going at it.”

Meanwhile, the heavyweight champion’s own blockbuster bout against Anthony Joshua has yet to be officially confirmed.

Fury’s American promoter Bob Arum had stated to iFL TV that everything was agreed, except for the signing of contracts.

Fury himself has said that he does not think the fight is imminent.
