Throughout his career, Harry Kane has taken on some of the best defenders on the planet. But of all the greats, two legends stand out from the pack.
Having scored a whopping 249 goals in his 388 Tottenham appearances, the 29-year-old has cemented his place among the best strikers on the planet. Despite not having any silverware in his trophy cabinet, Kane’s performances on the field have showcased his world-class calibre.
The player has proven himself as the ideal centre-forward. With his ability to hold the ball up, pick the perfect pass and consistently give his all, Kane has become a nightmare for his opposition to deal with. The man defines the word ‘leader’, on and off the pitch and can always be relied upon to score important goals.
But while he usually leaves centre-backs in the dust, two players have had his number.
Harry Kane names the best defenders he’s ever played against
During a social media Q&A on Instagram, the forward opened up on the pair of players that he struggled with the most.
Kane said: ‘There are a few who have been the toughest I have faced in my career. Early on, facing John Terry, [he was] just a really smart defender, knew where to put his body, knew how to stop my runs, so that was a great learning curve.”
The pair of England internationals clashed in many all-London affairs, but it’s fair to say that the ex-Chelsea captain got the upper hand. Renowned for his aggressive tackling, the tenacious defender struck fear into the hearts of almost all the strikers that had the misfortune of taking him on. And sadly, it appears Kane fell into that bracket.
The Tottenham star then revealed the second defender: “And then Giorgio Chiellini. I obviously played against him against Italy and against Juventus.
“Again, really smart, strong, and physical.”
The Serie A legend has had an incredible career. The tenacious player has won a plethora of titles, including Euro 2020, in which he defeated Kane and England in the final.
