Harry Redknapp says Thomas Tuchel needs to pick the right England team

Football is a complicated sport, with tactical decisions making all the difference at the highest level. However, in the eyes of Harry Redknapp the most important thing Thomas Tuchel has to do, is just making sure he knows his best starting XI.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the Englishman explained: “He has to pick the right team, select the right 11. You need a bit of luck, it’s cup football, it can go any way. It’s on the day, it’s not like the Premier League where you normally finish where you should finish. We look back to Denmark. They didn’t even qualify for Euro 1992. Somebody had to pull out because of a situation that was going on in the world, so Denmark got the late call, rounded up its players from the beach and where they were on holiday and ended up winning the competition. We’ve got as good a chance as anybody. It’s a wide-open tournament. I honestly don’t think there’s a special team. I like Spain and France, but with the 1970 Brazil team with Pele, you knew they were going to win the World Cup, but there’s nobody in this tournament that jumps out as a certainty to win it.”

Tuchel is undeniably a big personality, which is something, in the eyes of Redknapp, that the game needs more of. He enthused: “Absolutely, we need to [bring back characters]. That’s why we are giving away 21,866 BuzzBallz for each day since England last won the World Cup. Football should be fun and BuzzBallz are bringing back the lighter side for supporters of England. Football needs characters and to bring the smile back. We want to win trophies, but people need to have a good time.”
