Harry Redknapp hid under a table when Paolo Di Canio started kicking off

While renowned for his sublime talent, Paolo Di Canio certainly had a temper, which once came to the forefront in the locker room. In a moment of madness, Harry Redknapp found himself trying to avoid being drenched in the drink the footballer angrily held above his head.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the Brit explained: “We were playing at Birmingham, we were 1-0 up. Then, we conceded a goal right on half-time from a free-kick, and Shaka Hislop said, ‘Paolo, you should’ve been lining up the wall’. Paolo threw a wobbler, picked up the Gatorade, which to be honest only he could’ve lifted it up above his head, because he was so fit and strong, it was incredible. He had gallons of Gatorade, his legs were buckling, walking around the room, screaming, ‘You blame me’. We were all hiding. I had a brand new suit on and I hid under the table. He suddenly let it all go, and everybody’s suits were covered in an orange juice. Then, we had to persuade him to get his boots on and play the second-half. He came out, ran the game and scored a goal. That was Paolo, you never knew what to expect from him, but he was a fantastic footballer.”
