During his career, Eric Djemba-Djemba forged a reputation for his heavy tackling, with the popular player once accidentally kicking an Arsenal legend, in a moment that left Arsene Wenger less than impressed.

During an exclusive interview with Sporf via World Cup Betting, the Cameroonian explained: “Honestly, I didn’t want to hurt him, I just wanted to take the ball. I missed the ball and kicked Sol Campbell. I said to him, ‘Sorry’. Three or four years ago, we met in Singapore for a Manchester United legends game where we played against Arsenal. Sol Campbell was there and people were making fun, saying, ‘Eric Djemba-Djemba is going to kick you again’. It was funny, but honestly, I didn’t want to kick him.”

While Wenger wasn’t a fan of Djemba-Djemba’s tackle on Campell, Sir Alex Ferguson adored the midfielder. After the talented athlete produced the greatest moment of his career, the gaffer made a prediction that would eventually come true.
Djemba-Djemba reminisced: “I remember against Leeds in the FA Cup, I scored the goal. Then, after the game in the dressing room, Sir Alex Ferguson came over to me and said, ‘Eric I’m so happy you scored the goal. If you continue to score like that, we will win the FA Cup’. That year, we did win the FA Cup. It was a very good memory.”
