Liverpool’s hopes of producing an epic comeback against PSG took a major hit when Hugo Ekitike sustained a nasty injury and had to leave the field of play via a stretcher.
The Premier League side suffered a 2-0 loss to the French giants last week at the Parc Des Princes.
Hugo Ekitike injured during Champions League quarter-final
Having previously played for PSG, Hugo Ekitike would’ve loved to have made a major statement against his former club at Anfield. Alas, it wasn’t to be.
Before half-time, he fell to the ground in a great deal of pain, holding his ankle in what is suspected to be an injury to his Achilles.

Showing concern, Liverpool doctors were quick to confirm that the talented player would not be able to finish the game, and would thus, require a stretcher to be taken off the pitch.
During the Amazon Prime broadcast, Alan Shearer said: “Ekitike went to control the ball, and he sort of slipped over. He looks to be in pain. They are saying he has to come off. It doesn’t look good at all.”
Arne Slot replaced the 23-year-old with Mo Salah, who, according to the Newcastle legend, won’t have been happy that he wasn’t named in the starting XI.
Shearer claimed: “Salah will have been devastated that he didn’t start, but you always get a chance – and his is about to come.”
However, while the Egyptian might be disappointed, Ekitike will likely be feeling worse, especially with the World Cup right around the corner.
