EXCLUSIVE: Rolando Dy is adamant he has what it takes to finish Amir Khan in brutal fashion.
Last night, at BKB 54 inside the AO Arena in Manchester, UK, the Filipino hero produced a mesmerising display, dominating Paulie Malignaggi, en route to landing a devastating punch to stop ‘The Magic Man’.
And after destroying one legend of the fight game, the power puncher now has his heart set on adding another massive name to his resume.
Rolando Dy wants Amir Khan next
Following his statement display, Rolando Dy was joined in The Trigon by Amir Khan, who teased a willingness to take off the gloves and battle it out with the victor in bare-knuckle.
However, while the superstar would fancy his chances to claim the world championship for himself, the reigning super welterweight king is adamant that the Brit would face a similar fate to that of Malignaggi.
WOW: Boxing icon was forced to spar Manny Pacquiao for one vital reason
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Dy explained: “I will do the same thing to Amir Khan. Even if you put me in against Floyd Mayweather or the legends of boxing, I’m the best bare-knuckle boxer in the world. I understand the game. I can pinpoint the target. God gave me the wisdom to become the world champion of bare-knuckle boxing.”
Rolando Dy explains why he’s the complete bare-knuckle fighter
While MMA and boxing are fantastic bases for the sport of bare-knuckle, Dy is adamant that the reason he’s so far ahead of the pack, is because he’s developed a level of intelligence that gives him the edge over everyone, regardless of their combat sports background.
The 35-year-old enthused: “I told Malignaggi before he entered [The Trigon], bare-knuckle boxing is different. If it had been boxing, he might have beaten me, but I’m a bare-knuckle world champion. It’s not that I’m bragging, I’m telling the truth.
“People don’t understand the science of clinching, but I understand it. I know where to put my head so it’s safe, where to put my bodyweight, and where to put my shoulder. Not everyone understands this, but I do. This is the reason I am the champion, and why I told everyone before tonight that Paulie Malignaggi would be an easy fight.”
He added: “Consider me a geek, I’m a fighting nerd, I studied this sport before I entered, so I know how to beat the boxers and the MMA fighters. I am a complete bare-knuckle fighter, and I’m showing it right now.”
