After ‘The Three Lions’ fell short in a dramatic semi-final against Argentina in the biggest competition in all of sport, they were hoping to bounce back against Spain on Saturday.

Alas, after taking the lead, they completely fell apart, allowing the world champions to come from behind to secure a 3-2 victory.

Things could be very different tonight, however, as the squad will have the boost of the Real Madrid star who’s determined to prove he still has what it takes to represent his country.

Thomas Tuchel has interestingly opted to play Alexander-Arnold, who will be taking the place of Jarell Quansah.

When did Trent Alexander-Arnold last play for England?

This is the first time the former Liverpool star has heard the opening whistle for an England match in two years, with his last appearance in the starting XI, coming against Finland in a Nations League tie back in 2024.

The 27-year-old last featured for his country back in a World Cup qualifier in 2025 against Andorra.

While he fell out of favour with Tuchel, it appears his positive start to the 2026/27 campaign in La Liga has impressed the German enough for him to give the talented defender another opportunity. which he now intends to grasp with both hands.
