Thomas Tuchel sends savage message to Harry Maguire about his England future

Harry Maguire has not received the most positive of updates from Thomas Tuchel about his England future.

The defender was left devastated when he wasn’t named in the FIFA World Cup 2026 squad.

Harry Maguire has not made the squad, selected by Thomas Tuchel, to represent England at the Nations League.

The news will undoubtedly come as a huge blow for the centre-back, who was publicly critical of the decision to not include him for the World Cup during the summer.

And it wasn’t just the player himself who was upset by the call, as Maguire’s mother said she was ‘absolutely disgusted’ with Tuchel’s actions.

It appears that the pair’s comments haven’t gone down well with the German, who has claimed that the road back to playing for England certainly won’t be easy.

Tuchel explained: “It doesn’t help. It does not help. I will not hold it against him for the rest of his life because I’m not that type of person. I can forget easily and quickly, but I didn’t like it, and it doesn’t help.”

While Maguire will have to fight to win his position back in the squad, Trent Alexander-Arnold is officially back in the mix.

Tuchel said: “I know what he is capable of. I know about his talent. I know what he is saying. That he is desperate to play for England and he will fight for his shirt. So here we are. He is in camp, and he has the chance. It’s a long camp, and it’s a good moment to show up.

“I spoke to him before the World Cup and told him my decision, and this time it was the good news. He heard the good news over the nomination.”
