EXCLUSIVE: Jake Reed has opened up about which Minnesota Vikings star he’d love to play alongside the most, confessing that he believes there’s one man that would gel with him, Cris Carter and Randy Moss, turning the legendary ‘Three Deep’ into ‘Four Deep’.
The gifted player is currently in the UK ahead of the London Games, where his beloved side will go head-to-head with The New York Jets.
Jake Reed would love to play alongside Justin Jefferson
Back in 1991, the Vikings selected Jake Reed as a third-round pick, in a decision that would change the scope of NFL history. The icon cemented his legacy as one of the best to ever pick up a ball, becoming a hero in the eyes of the supporters.
Blessed with remarkable skills and a innate understanding of the game, the 213-pound powerhouse joined forces with, Randy Moss and Cris Carter, to form the legendary, Three Deep, who wreaked havoc on the league in 1998.
With many years having passed since his time on the field, Reed is enjoying watching the next generation, and he’s convinced there’s one player in particular that would slot in perfectly alongside him and his two favourite teammates.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, he said: “Justin Jefferson, I’d love to play alongside him. I think if Justin Jefferson would’ve played at the same time as me, Cris Carter and Randy Moss, instead of being Three Deep, we would’ve been Four Deep. I think I would’ve been the fourth receiver because Justin Jefferson really has the juice.
“He has everything. Not just with his route running, but once he gets the ball in his hands, he’s very explosive. So, I think that would make the offense go, that would make the running game go because they can get the ball down the field to him. That makes everybody else better because you can’t just put one guy on him. That’s a guy I wish I could play with. I love receivers.”
Jake Reed flew to Newcastle, UK, for the 2024 Minnesota Vikings NFL Flag Tournament
Ahead of the Vikings clash with the New York Jets, Reed attended the team’s 2024 NFL Flag Tournament, where he engaged with the year 7 and 8 students, giving them lots of advice about how they can approve their game.
He said: “The flag tournament is great. I got here and I saw the kids running around and I saw a lot of great talent out there. One of the goals for the Vikings and the NFL global marketing team, is to connect the community and invest back into it with football clinics and things like that.
“I think that the brand is building here and I think it’s awesome. The Vikings have great fans in Newcastle, which is one of the reasons why we chose to come here.”
