Jones reacts to Dana White giving Ngannou fight to Lewis

Jon Jones has taken time to reflect on social media after Dana White confirmed Francis Ngannou’s next fight will be against Derrick Lewis.

For weeks now Jones has been locked in often-public negotiations with UFC president Dana White and the promotion as a whole over the issue of fighter pay. Jones is of the belief that he should be compensated handsomely for what would, undeniably, be the toughest test of his career against ‘The Predator’.

Will Jones/Ngannou ever happen?

Jones has yet to make his official debut at heavyweight after vacating the light heavyweight crown last year, but many still feel as if he has what it takes to beat just about everyone in the division.

Alas, money talks above all else, and there still appears to be a long way to go before Jones and the UFC come to terms on a deal.

White made it clear after UFC 262 that Ngannou vs Lewis 2 would be next, with the majority of fans believing these tweets from Jones serve as an indirect reply to the boss.

“I’m really not sure when I’ll be fighting next, but some downtime after a decade of wins is a nice little change up right now.” Jones wrote in one tweet

“Honestly I’m a blessed individual. My whole story is in Gods hands, I believe there’s huge things in my future. Things don’t always happen when we want them to”

“Sometimes I feel like my life is one big bonus, never imagine I would be in this position in life. I’m grateful even when things don’t go my way”

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Jones can now be tempted into fighting anyone else at heavyweight, especially after dismissing the prospect of fighting Stipe Miocic.

Dana White also clarified that they are hoping Ngannou vs Lewis 2 takes place in August.
