Jose Mourinho takes responsibility for 6-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt

Roma manager Jose Mourinho has accepted responsibility for his side’s embarrassing 6-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt last night.

On an evening that also saw his former club Tottenham drop a shock loss to Vitesse, Mourinho was forced to sit back and watch as the Norwegian champions ran riot against the Italians. The game was 2-1 heading into half-time but the hosts came out like a house on fire in the second half, putting on the kind of showcase that few would’ve seen coming.

It marks the first time that a Jose Mourinho-managed side has conceded six in one game but, to his credit, the Portuguese boss was more than happy to accept responsibility for what happened.

“I decided to play with this line-up, so the responsibility is mine,” he said.

“I did it with good intentions, to give an opportunity to those who work hard and to rotate the squad on a synthetic pitch in cold weather.

Is Mourinho finished as an elite manager?

“I never disguised the fact we were a squad with real limitations. We have 13 players who represent one team, the others are on a different level.

“We lost against a team that showed more quality on the night. It’s that simple.”

The club can’t afford to wallow in a pit of misery for too long as they prepare to host league leaders Napoli on Sunday.
