Jose Mourinho targets surprise midfielder this summer with €100m AS Roma budget

Jose Mourinho has selected the transfer target whom he believes can turn the tide at Roma.

The Portuguese legend has been on a downward spiral since leaving Real Madrid back in 2013. But despite his efforts at his new club, he’s still falling further down the managerial mountain.

At present, the former three-time Serie A Champions are in an underwhelming seventh place position. And things don’t look like turning around anytime soon. Mourinho’s cut-throat approach used to work wonders in his younger years. But nowadays, he seems to alienate the players at most clubs that hire him.

The lacklustre nature of his squad’s performances has left a lot of questions to answer. The pressure is mounting on Mourinho, who’s facing his fourth sacking in a row.

However, in a wild turn of events reported by the Italian media, it appears not only will the club stand by their head coach, but they’ll back him with a massive transfer budget in the summer.

Jose Mourinho has one transfer target in mind

‘The Special One’ will allegedly have the opportunity to scan the market with a whopping €100 million. The Stadio Olimpico side is looking for several players to help revolutionise their squad for the 2022-23 season. The board are admirers of Argentinian Marcos Senesi, who has impressed with his performances at Feyenoord.

But there’s one man who Mourinho wants more than any other.

The 59-year-old is desperate to secure the services of Arsenal playmaker Granit Xhaka. Despite his obvious talent and ability to score absolute screamers, Arsenal fans have long wanted to be rid of the Swiss midfielder.

He’s fallen out of favour at the club due to his controversial attitude. In a 2019 game, he received a red card because of a terrible challenge. In response, he stormed off the pitch and threw his shirt on the floor due to jears from his supporters. However, this isn’t the only time he’s disrespected Arsenal enthusiasts. In a game against Crystal Palace, he told the crowd to “f**k off” after being substituted.

His angry reactions have potentially prompted his Emirates exit. But with his Italian admirers, he might have the perfect move lined up. The Roma transfer target is the absolute embodiment of Jose Mourinho on the pitch. He’s aggressive, passionate and knows how to command the midfield.

The Portuguese manager is desperate to find players who have something about them and always try their best. And although Xhaka has his moments, there’s no doubt that he always gives it his all.
