EXCLUSIVE: Josh Rock ended up in agony during a moment of what should’ve been pure elation.

The gifted competitor, who has just signed a new ten-year deal with Target Darts, has won the World Cup for Northern Ireland with Daryl Gurney, played in the Premier League, and hit his fair share of nine-darters.

Josh Rock nearly broke his leg against Michael van Gerwen

On November 18, 2022, Josh Rock went head-to-head with Michael van Gerwen in the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts. And while the Belfast sportsman didn’t quite win the match, he certainly gave ‘The Green Machine’ a scare.

In a piece of sporting brilliance that set the arena alight, Rock pulled off perfection.

WOW: ‘Michael van Gerwen is not my favourite player’… Darts star makes dig at ‘MVG’ as he gives pick for who the GOAT really is

During an exclusive interview with Sporf, he reminisced: “It was a good-scoring game for the first two legs. I hit a 180 in the leg before the nine-darter, Michael hit a big checkout, then I hit 180, 180, so I had three 180s on the bounce. Then, I pinged a 141. The thing I remember the most from the nine-darter was nearly breaking my leg. It happened; whatever way I jumped up in the air, I landed on my right foot, jilted it, and felt it go.”

While Rock’s injury wasn’t as bad as first thought, he still sustained some damage, with the athlete left hobbling around the stage.

Josh Rock signs ten-year deal with Target Darts

Target Darts have officially re-signed Rock in a ten-year deal. And the player himself is thrilled about the agreement.

The 25-year-old enthused: “I’m very happy. It’s a privilege to have a big deal like this. Even before I became a professional darts player, I used to wear Target shirts and throw Target darts. So, I clearly wanted to be a part of Target when I was older, and I’m honoured that I got that.”

In addition to securing the Northern Irishman’s signature, Target Darts have just launched their biggest ever product range #TargetObsessed, which features the Tor Evo dartboard, alongside Luke Littler’s new ‘Fallout’ darts range.

And it’s fair to say Rock is very impressed.

He beamed: “Target is the best in the business, hands down. How far advanced they are compared to everybody else is ridiculous.”
