Khabib Nurmagomedov annoys fans by backing Man City after Man United visit

Khabib Nurmagomedov caused quite the stir over the weekend by supporting both Manchester United and Manchester City in the space of 24 hours.

While he may be celebrated for his historic 29-0 record in mixed martial arts, Khabib Nurmagomedov is also known for being a huge football fan. From posting about his passion for the sport on social media to being close friends with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, “The Eagle” is clearly enjoying the free time he has to go and watch some footy now that he’s retired from MMA.

The former UFC lightweight champion is currently in the UK for a series of appearances but on Saturday, he found time to see his old pal CR7 come off the bench against Everton at Old Trafford. Then, he had the opportunity to meet Sir Alex Ferguson and exchange pleasantries with the former gaffer as well as Usain Bolt and Patrice Evra.

A man of many clubs

Some had wondered whether or not this made Khabib an actual United fan, but based on who he was backing during the Liverpool vs Manchester City game on Sunday, we’d say he’s probably not going to be getting a season ticket anytime soon.

“It was amazing atmosphere today, but the game was even better. Today I was rooting for @mancity. I just love this sport”

An optimist would say he wanted City to win because of his burning hatred of Liverpool but in reality, Khabib probably just wanted to watch a great game of football – and that’s exactly what he got in a four-goal thriller at Anfield.

Given the fact that Conor McGregor has also made his love for Manchester United known in the past, it was always going to be unlikely that they shared something in common.
