However, no human being is perfect. Before scoring his first goal against Austria, the Argentinian missed from the spot. And at half-time, Gabby Logan revealed a surprising statistic.

During the BBC broadcast, she explained: “He’s taken more penalties than anybody else in the World Cup, and he’s missed more as well because he’s now missed three of the seven he’s taken, this is obviously not in shootouts. We’re clutching at straws here but is it a tiny weakness?”
