Man United 2022/23 third kit photos ‘leaked’ – and fans make the same joke

As with tradition, millions of Man United fans will head to the stores to purchase their 22/23 home kit, but they might reserve themselves from breaking the bank for the third strip.

After an appalling season, Red Devils enthusiasts are heading into the next campaign with a sense of optimism. Granted, their side has struggled to perform in nearly every game recently. However, with a new manager at the wheel in Erik ten Hag, they will hope there are better things to come.

Despite the club’s decline in form, The Theatre of Dreams remains an attractive option for managers across the globe. And to the delight of fans, they’ve secured the services of one of the best coaches in the game.

The managerial maestro has captivated pundits around the globe with his achievements at Ajax.

He’s just guided ‘de Godenzonen’ to a third Eredivisie championship. That’s not to mention his incredible run in the 2018/19 Champions League. Against the odds, his side defeated Juventus and Real Madrid en route to a spot in the semi-finals.

Under his direction, the side intends to return to its glory days. And they’ve started in the right way by designing a retro kit reminiscent of the famous shirts worn by the likes of Eric Cantona in the mid-1990s.

However, the 2022/23 third kit of Man United hasn’t gone down as well.

Man United 2022/23 third kit receives amusing response

The adidas-designed shirt, as reposted by Footy Headlines, features hi-vis yellow with dark blue applications and logo. But although the kit certainly stands out, fans are all saying the same thing. It strikes an uncanny resemblance to David de Gea’s current goalkeeping shirt.

And in a very 21st-century manner, they’ve taken to Twitter to express their views.

One joked: “Usually, teams use their third kits to have a more aesthetic look. All brakes are off. Instead, Man Utd get a typical shirt like their Away one and in a yellow colour. We’ll be having 11 de Gea’s on the field.”

Another, meanwhile, captioned a picture of de Gea with: “Just looks like a remake of this.”
