PSG dismantled an increasingly vulnerable Barcelona side last night in the Champions League, giving themselves a comfortable lead to take back to the Parc de Princes for the second leg.
While Kylian Mbappe will rightfully take the headlines for his part in the 4-1 mauling, Marco Verratti put on a midfield masterclass throughout the full 90 minutes.
The Italian proved exactly why he’s so highly-rated in PSG’s midfield, offering one of the most complete performances you’re likely to see.
Touch tackling, calmness in possession and killer passes – Verratti dominated the centre of the park in supreme style.
He also added a sublime assist to his outstanding performance, teeing up Mbappe with a lovely deft flick in the Barca box.

While we have seen PSG infamously capitulate with this kind of lead against Barcelona, going off last night it’s seriously tough to see the French champions throwing things away this time round.
Both sides will meet again on March 10, though it’s going to take something massive if Ronald Koeman is to overcome Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
