New footage shows Jon Jones headbutting police car, calling officer ‘nerd’

Footage has reached the public domain showing UFC star Jon Jones getting arrested for suspected domestic assault in 2021.

The former light heavyweight champion conquered the world at just 23 and dominated the sport for the following nine years.

He outgrappled Olympians, outstruck boxers and submitted black belts. But despite his sensational rise to the top, Jones has struggled to keep his private life in order.

This arrest wasn’t the first time he found himself in trouble with the law. In 2015 he was arrested for a hit and run on a pregnant woman, which resulted in the UFC stripping him of his title.

He ultimately returned to the sport, but his latest run-in with the authorities could prolong his absence from the octagon.

Jon Jones collides with the police

On September 24, 2021, the authorities received a call about a domestic dispute at a Las Vegas hotel. They arrived to find the UFC fighter attempting to flee the scene where his partner had sustained injuries to her face. They arrested Jones on the grounds of domestic violence but ultimately dropped the charges.

In the aftermath, his fiance, who stuck by him at first, decided to leave. Now, the shocking footage of his arrest has made its way onto social media.

The video, captured by a police bodycam, showed the athlete headbutting their car and making strange comments.

Earlier in the evening, his contest with Alexander Gustafsson had been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. This was still clearly on his mind as he began insulting the officers.

He shouted: “Humiliating me [on] my Hall of Fame night. You f***ing nerd. I hate you. I hate you. You f***ng nerd. I hate you so much.

“Say your name publicly. You turned me in on my Hall of Fame night, just because I’m big and black. And what did I do? I came from my Hall of Fame ceremony, and I’m black, and I did nothing to you.”

His comments then became more concerning as he asked the officers to perform violent acts on him.

Jones added: “Bro, hang me. Hurt me and kill me. What did I do? A Black man can’t drink? Getting elected into the Hall of Fame, and this is what I’ve got?”

Will Jones ever fight again?

Regardless of his antics outside of the cage, fans still have an appetite to see ‘Bones’ compete again. A fight against UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou would draw in a big crowd; it would be a battle of skill vs power. However, his request for ‘Deontay Wilder’ money means that contest is unlikely to occur anytime soon.

However, due to ‘The Predator’ sustaining an injury in his latest title defence, the likelihood of Jones returning to the octagon has grown.

Rumours have begun circulating that the legendary athlete will come back for a monstrous collision with two-time heavyweight king Stipe Miocic.

But with his problematic personal life, there’s a long way to go before he can even think about setting foot in the cage again.
