New images have emerged of the AC Milan 2022/23 home kit – and they are throwing it back a few years.
AC Milan are one of the biggest and most historic clubs in Italy – and the world – and their red and black stripes are iconic.
Following from their impressive season last time out, Stefano Pioli’s side will be looking to enjoy more success in this new, yet retro, design.
AC Milan’s 2021/22 season
2021/22 marked AC Milan’s return to the top of the Serie A table. Securing their 19th title in the final game of the season, Pioli’s side reinstated themselves at the pinnacle of Italian club competition.
Their first title since 2011 was won with their highest-ever points tally as well. The Italian giants accumulated 86 points by the end of the season, beating arch-rivals Inter Milan by two points.
In addition, the Rossoneri reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, and 2021/22 marked their return to the Champions League for the first time since 2014.
AC Milan 2022/23 kit ‘leaked’
Back in April, we got an early look at what Milan’s 2022/23 home shirt may look like. Those initial leaked images showed a concept of the classic black and red stripes, with small detailing on the sleeves in the pattern of the Italian flag.
In addition, the stripes cut off at the neckline, which was solid black, along with the sleeves. It looks like a very smart kit indeed.
Ahead of the July 4 release date, new, more detailed images of Milan’s new home kit have surfaced.
Kit supplier Puma have reversed the colours of the kit from the 2021/22 season, with black now becoming the primary colour.
As with the earlier shots, the stripes stop at the neckline, but they also stop before the hem of the shirt. This aesthetic is something that Puma have applied newly for the 2022/23 season.
The collar features a unique design, with small red detailing – reminiscent of the 2007/08 home shirt.
But the beauty is in the details.
Those sleeve cuffs in the pattern of the Italian flag, are a subtle yet classy addition. On the back of the shirt, at the top, it features the message ‘Sempre Milan’ which means ‘always Milan.’
In addition, the shirt will be complemented by black shorts and black socks, completing the kit.
Milan will be looking to retain their Serie A title next season, and there is no doubt that their 2022/23 kit is a strip worthy of winners.
