Fans around the world were full of praise for N’Golo Kante after his masterful performance against Real Madrid last night.
The Frenchman was on fire throughout the course of Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final first leg, commanding the midfield to ensure the Blues had the best chance of coming away with a decent result.
In the end it finished 1-1, with the away goal leaving Chelsea in pole position to reach the final.
N’Golo Kante – a god amongst men
Of course, they’ll need to be equally as impressive at Stamford Bridge in the second leg, but this was still a positive start.
Kante was especially on the money as we’ve already alluded to and moving forward, it feels like he is ready to push his side all the way in what looks set to be a chaotic end to the campaign for Chelsea.
On Twitter, everyone from Cesc Fabregas to neutral fans couldn’t help but admire what Kante was able to achieve.
“N’golo has always been a big game player. Never doubt him. He plays for 2.”
In more ways than one we’ve seen Kante receive unfair criticism in the last few months, perhaps because some don’t really pay attention to what he does on the pitch.
He is a creative genius with an ability to read the game in a way few others can. He did it with Leicester, and he’s been doing it consistently with Chelsea.
With the return fixture looming large, the best Real can do is try to box him out. They won’t have to deal with the intensity of the Stamford Bridge faithful getting behind him, but Kante still knows that pitch better than most.
Real have to score in the capital if they’re going to stand any chance of reaching the final. Therefore, dealing with Kante needs to be seen as a priority.
