Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints that certain Man United players are unhappy

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at some cracks beginning to appear within Manchester United’s first-team squad.

It’s no secret that the Red Devils have been through a rough patch recently. While they may have eased to victory over Tottenham, they’ve also suffered multiple setbacks in the last few months – including a 5-0 demolition at the hands of Liverpool.

One man who has been receiving most of the criticism for that is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Critics believe that the Norwegian’s position as manager is in jeopardy. With Atalanta and Manchester City to come in the next few days, things aren’t going to get any easier.

In his pre-match press conference this week, Solskjaer spoke candidly when asked about players potentially being unhappy.

“That’s always going to happen at Manchester United. Players are going to go through difficult spells when they’re not playing, and then your character is revealed. I’m pleased with most of mine.”

“I understand players want to play – nobody is happy when they don’t play. But the squad morale has been really good and it has to be. It cannot be ‘okay we’ve done one game now’ and now everyone is thinking about themselves. It’s a team before any individual.”

Who could be unsettled?

Donny van de Beek is one player within United’s first-team setup who would understandably be feeling frustrated right now. United brought the midfielder in to steady the ship in midfield. Thus far, however, he hasn’t been trusted to do so. From his animation on the bench to rumours regarding a January move, the 24-year-old is clearly agitated.

Alex Telles is another man who has been waiting for his chance to shine with the above Instagram post showcasing that. It may be viewed as a defiant way of saying he’s ready to make an impact as and when the chance arrives, but you also have to wonder how long he’s willing to wait.

Paul Pogba has also noted some of United’s mistakes in recent games and with his agent Mino Raiola in the press every other day, he’s bound to be conflicted.

For now, though, the focus needs to be on getting all three points against Atalanta tonight.
