Ollie Watkins to Al Hilal: deal agreed

Ollie Watkins is set to leave Aston Villa after Al Hilal reached a full agreement to sign the England international for a fee exceeding €60 million. The Saudi Pro League side have received the “green light” from the Midlands club according to Fabrizio Romano, with the striker expected to travel for his medical this week.

The deal represents a significant windfall for Unai Emery’s side. The Saudi giants submitted a final bid worth €58.4m as a fixed fee, supplemented by a further €2m in performance-related add-ons. All details of the transfer are now finalised between the two clubs. Villa appear to have moved quickly to secure a replacement for their talismanic forward. The club have already struck a separate agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson according to David Ornstein.

Jackson is expected to arrive at Villa Park in a deal worth up to £65m. This includes a £47.5m initial payment. This swift movement in the market suggests Villa were prepared for Watkins’ departure. The 30-year-old has been a vital figure for the club, but the scale of the Al Hilal offer proved too significant to turn down. Personal terms for Watkins are understood to be settled as he prepares for his move to the Middle East.
