Pique trolls Vidal after celebrating Inter’s title victory

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique trolled Inter’s Arturo Vidal after the Italian side won Serie A for the first time in 11 years at the weekend.

The pair were team-mates at Barcelona before the 33-year-old joined Antonio Conte’s side last summer.

And Vidal played his part in Inter’s success, featuring 23 times and scoring one goal from midfield before injury curtailed his recent involvement.

It is the fifth time he has won a league trophy in Italy, having secured the Scudetto four times during his spell with Juventus between 2011 and 2015.

He has also won titles in Spain with Barca, Germany with Bayern Munich and Chile with Colo-Colo, with his latest triumph bringing the total number of league trophies up to 12.

On the international stage, Vidal also won the Copa America with Chile in the summer of 2015.

He posted an image to Instagram which illustrated all his titles and contained the words ’12 leagues in 15 years’.

Pique’s brutal response

Underneath the post, Vidal’s former team-mate Pique trolled him by replying (translation from Spanish via Sport): “If you’re playing against people that can’t run… when [are you going to win] the Champions League?”

Vidal said in response: “The next one will be mine.”

Inter were involved in this season’s Champions League, although finished bottom of their group after what could have been a rollercoaster final round.

Conte’s side could have gone through with a win, but could only record a 0-0 stalemate against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Their superior head-to-head record against Borussia Moenchengladbach would have pushed them into second place, with the German side losing to Real Madrid in their final gameweek fixture of the group stage.

Inter last won the Champions League in 2010 under the management of Jose Mourinho, who was earlier today announced as the new head coach of fellow Serie A side Roma starting from next season.
