Roma have confirmed that Jose Mourinho will take over as head coach of the club for the 2021/22 season.
The news follows an earlier announcement that Paulo Fonseca will leave the Italian side at the end of the current campaign.
“The club are delighted to announce an agreement has been reached with Jose Mourinho for him to become our new head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.”A statement on Roma’s official Twitter read.

The announcement comes as something of a shock, with Italian media heavily reporting that Maurizio Sarri was favourite to take over next season.
