Football agent Mino Raiola has said that four Premier League clubs could afford to buy Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and has since further established himself as one of Europe’s leading marksmen.
His current contract with the German club contains a £65m release clause – although that is not activated until summer 2022.
He has 28 goals in all competitions this season, including eight goals in just five Champions League appearances.
Manchester United were one of the clubs linked with Haaland before he joined the German side. Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to be a big admirer.
There has also been reported interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea.
Discussing Haaland’s future, Raiola explained to BBC Sport: “He will be one of the future stars of the next decade because we see that stars such as Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo and Messi are coming to an age where everyone asks themselves: ‘How long can we still enjoy them?’
“So everyone is looking for the new generation.
“It’s obvious that only maybe a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Haaland] from Dortmund so we can all fill in those clubs.
“And four of those clubs are in your beautiful country [England]. And you can fill them in, you can call them and ask ‘Would you be interested?’
“I don’t think there’s a sports director or trainer in the world who would say ‘I am not interested’.”
Haaland’s immediate future
Journalist and ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Norwegian is currently “happy at BVB”.
He currently has six goals in his last five appearances, including a brace in Dortmund’s 3-2 victory over Sevilla in their Champions League last-16 first leg encounter.
His tally of 17 league goals makes this season his most prolific at professional level. That number brought up at exactly a goal a game.
