Real Madrid set to deliver transfer blow to LIverpool with Aurelien Tchouameni deal

Liverpool and Manchester United target Aurelian Tchouameni is closing in on a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.

The highly coveted 22-year-old has developed a huge reputation through his showings for Monaco. Despite his young age, he stands as a solid rock in defensive midfield and has an innate ability to pick the perfect pass.

Tchouameni has played a vital role in the Ligue 1 side’s campaign, in which he’s made a whopping 50 appearances.

With his talent so evident, English fans were hoping to see his stunning displays in person. Both Liverpool and Manchester United were rumoured to have entered talks with the player. It was even then claimed that the Reds had made contact with Tchouameni’s representatives. But in a plot twist, he has decided that his future lies in Spain.

Aurelian Tchouameni picks Real Madrid

According to RMC Sport, the French international has decided to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid. Los Blancos have fended off interest from other sides and secured the rising star’s services for €80 million, plus bonuses.

Although this will leave Red Devils fans disappointed, losing out on a signing to their Champions League final opponents may upset Liverpool supporters more.

There is no doubt that Tchouameni’s decision will give the La Liga club some much-needed momentum. Although Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos are still playing at their peak, there will come a time where the trio need to be replaced, and Tchouameni is an excellent long-term option.

Liverpool now need to set their sights on a new midfielder. They have missed Gini Wijnaldum throughout the season, and the pursuit of Tchouameni suggests that the Reds are still keen on a player who can fill that void. Hence, their German manager has already started looking at alternative options.

PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare stands as one of their prime targets. The Ivory Coast international played a vital role in his club’s title race with Ajax. He would only bolster the Merseyside club’s squad.

With the transfer window set to officially open soon, expect more developments in this story to come.
