Ric Flair net worth 2022: How much has the WWE icon earned before his last match?

Ric Flair has had a lengthy and successful wrestling career – but what is the overall net worth of ‘The Nature Boy’ in 2022?

The 73-year-old began his career long before the days of Vince McMahon and WWE. He joined the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in December 1972, meaning he is nearing his 50th wrestling anniversary.

Ric Flair’s career

After leaving AWA, Flair joined Jim Crockett’s National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in 1974. There, he would establish himself as one of wrestling’s top stars.

Flair feuded with the likes of Dusty Rhodes, Sting and Ricky Steamboat, and founded the legendary stable, The Four Horsemen.

He was 10-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, but left the company in 1991 in acrimonious circumstances to join the World Wrestling Federation. One of Flair’s first acts in the WWF was to help The Undertaker defeat Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship.

He was named the Wrestler of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 1992. He also won the 1992 Royal Rumble, but lost in the main event of that year’s WrestleMania to ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.

Flair left the WWF for the first time in 1993, rejoining WCW. When the latter closed down – Flair having wrestled the company’s final match, against Sting – he rejoined WWF.

In his second stint with the company, Flair co-founded Evolution alongside Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton. He later had feuds with Triple H and Edge, and won the tag team titles alongside ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper.

Flair’s WWE career ended in 2008, when he lost a retirement match to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24. But the 73-year-old is yet to give up wrestling officially. Even though he retired in 2012, with his last match taking place in TNA the year prior, Flair will compete in his last match at the Starrcast V event on July 31.

Overall, Flair is a 16-time world champion, and became the first wrestler to achieve WCW’s ‘Triple Crown’ of titles.

What is the net worth of Ric Flair in 2022?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the net worth of Ric Flair in 2022 stands at $500,000. The ‘Nature Boy’ has been hit with several financial problems in recent years, meaning his current net worth figure is lower than you might expect.

In 2019, Flair received a $280,000 tax bill from the IRS and the Georgia Department of Revenue.

In the same year, Flair underwent a surgical procedure related to heart issues. He described it as a “$1.8 million dollar tune-up” which was mostly covered by insurance. However, the 73-year-old also admitted that the procedure had taken “a lot of cash out of our pockets”.

Flair made a considerable amount of money during his days with WCW. The salaries of top WCW stars, between 1996 and 2000, were previously released as part of a racial discrimination lawsuit against WCW and Turner Sports.

As per Fox Sports, Flair was paid a total of $1,954,313 over the time period, including $780,259 in 1998. Only 12 WCW stars earned more in that time, with Hulk Hogan comfortably topping the pile.

The salary Flair collected during his second stint with WWE is unknown. However, Triple H recently revealed the minimum salary on the main roster is $250,000 yearly. According to a report from the Daily Mirror last year, John Cena was the highest-paid member of the WWE roster at $8.5 million.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, meanwhile, claimed (via Cultaholic) that Flair was earning money equivalent to what a top star would make on his WWE ambassador contract. However, the ‘Nature Boy’ has never commented on these claims.
