Robert Griffith says making the Pro Bowl was his greatest achievement

Under the guidance of Dennis Green, who spotted his fighting spirit, Robert Griffith, who was once written off as being too small, excelled to an incredible extent.

The gifted player dazzled football enthusiasts, proving himself as one of the most talented safeties the sport has ever seen, becoming an All-Pro in 1998 and 1999.

Yet, it wasn’t until he made the Pro Bowl that Griffith finally felt like his ability received the credit it deserved.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, he beamed: “It was a culmination of being rewarded for all the hard work. I was an All-Pro in 1998 and 1999, but I wasn’t popular enough for lack of a better word, to make the Pro Bowl. So, for the fans to finally recognise me, really meant a lot. I brought my family over. We all got a chance to enjoy Hawaii. It was a really good time.”

The athlete thoroughly enjoyed his trip to the ‘Aloha State’. While his side lost the game, Griffith will always be thrilled that he gave his family the opportunity of a lifetime. And to make matters even better, the sporting titan was joined by an array of stars that made his time at the Vikings so fantastic.

The 53-year-old enthused: “I was in the sun and playing with all the best players in the world. We had ten players that went to the Pro Bowl that year. So, I was playing with a lot of my teammates—John Randle, Cris Carter, Warren Moon — it felt good, it felt like I had arrived.”
