Roman Reigns has all but confirmed his intentions of attempting to break into the world of Hollywood.
During the early portion of his career, ‘The Big Dog’ had to endure endless hate from The WWE Universe. But in a testament to the power of his self-belief, he never stopped trying to hone his craft. And after years of relentless graft, he turned heel and became just as popular as Vince McMahon always knew he could be.
In recent years, the charismatic wrestler has emerged as the biggest name in WWE and, if he wanted to, could keep going for a long time to come.
At Wrestlemania 38, he claimed the biggest victory of his career against Brock Lesnar in front of 78,453 fans at The AT and T Stadium.
In a sublime performance, he pinned ‘The Beast Incarnate’ to walk away from Texas with two belts wrapped around his shoulders.
He’s undeniably reached the pinnacle of the sport, and with not much left to achieve, sadly for wrestling enthusiasts, he looks ready to move on.
Roman Reigns goes Hollywood
After you’ve conquered everything and, in Reign’s case, everyone in your field, it’s only natural to seek new challenges. At this stage of his life, the 36-year-old has transcended WWE to become a bonafide star.
Consequently, he’s seriously considering his options.
Legends like John Cena and The Rock solidified their legacies as two of the best to ever do it. But now, they’re up there with the biggest names in show business, acting in movies like The Suicide Squad and Jumanji. Although they both still love the company, their appearances have dwindled to yearly occurrences at best.
It now looks like Reigns will take a page from their book and follow a similar career trajectory. During a house show in Trenton, New Jersey, he said goodbye to the fans who’ve loved him so much throughout his career.
He said: “I’ve been here a couple of times in the past ten years. I’m starting to work into a new phase in my career, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back here again. If that’s the case, I just wanna say thank you for all these years of support.”
Granted, there’s been no official confirmation that Reigns has decided to take the plunge into acting. But his speech looks pretty conclusive. However, with his stock at its highest and a rumoured match with The Rock at Wrestlemania 39 on the table, he may still have a couple of dances left in the tank.
