Sergio Aguero makes concerning comments about Barcelona’s training regime

Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has opened up about his training sessions at the club – and made some concerning comments about the training regime.

The Argentinian signed for Barca on a free transfer at the beginning of July, following the expiration of his Manchester City contract.

He is, however, yet to make his competitive debut for the club. He suffered a calf injury at the beginning of August, with Barca confirming he would be out for around 10 weeks.

Aguero was only registered for the senior squad on deadline day. Barca were only cleared to register him after team captains Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto agreed to pay cuts.

He is now stepping up his recovery from injury as he gets closer to a return to action.

Speaking to Ibai Llanos on Twitch, Aguero compared the training regimes at previous club City and Barcelona – and made some concerning comments.

He said: “At City, we arrived an hour and a half before training.

“Here, half an hour before. I said, ‘Well, I’ll come in at least an hour before and try and go to the gym and do some things’, but nobody was there. It was all shut.”

Aguero on number 10 shirt

Aguero also revealed that he was offered the number 10 shirt by Barca after Lionel Messi‘s departure, but turned it down.

Two weeks ago, Spanish outlet SPORT reported that the club would not give the shirt to any player – unless in essential circumstances, in which the shirt would be given to a youth player.

Barca instead gave the number 10 to La Masia graduate Ansu Fati. The Spaniard has recently returned to training after 12 months out with a serious knee injury.
