Several top WWE stars removed from Money in the Bank advertisements

WWE always stress that its cards are subject to change, but the line-up featured in the advertisements for Money in the Bank is entirely different from the original.

Every year, the company puts on the fan favourite event in front of a huge crowd. The match revolves around several competitors desperately trying to climb a ladder to unhook a briefcase, which gives them an automatic title fight that they can cash in at any point over the following 12 months.

This has given fans some of the greatest shocks in the history of WWE. Dolph Ziggler relieving Alberto Del Rio of the World Heavyweight Championship lives long in the memory. Meanwhile, Kane taking advantage of an injured Rey Mysterio will always conjure up emotions of heartbreak. And who can forget Seth Rollins‘ famous cash-in at WrestleMania?

The event still reigns as one of the most popular in the promotion. For this year, the wrestlers now fight it out for the opportunity to main event WrestleMania. And on July 2, a new selection of superstars will get their opportunity to unhook the briefcase. But due to some changes in advertisements, the fans are now unsure who will be competing.

Superstars removed from WWE Money in the Bank poster

When the promotion first released its poster, it featured several prominent names. These included SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, Charlotte Flair, Bobby Lashley, Becky Lynch and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

However, the newly-updated poster shows an entirely different set of Superstars, except for Drew McIntyre and Bianca Belair. Matt Riddle, Cody Rhodes, The Miz, Rhea Ripley and The Street Profits are on the new poster.

Unsurprisingly, this has left fans puzzled. Flair is getting married to Andrade El Idolo, so her participation at the event was unexpected. As of yet, however, we are in the dark about the others.

It would be a significant surprise if Rousey, the current defending SmackDown Women’s Champion, were not to compete. That is likewise for Lashley and Lynch, who have featured prominently on WWE programming over recent months.

And according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer, (as per WrestlingNews), Reigns has three massive matches scheduled for the summer, so it’s shocking that one of those contests may not take place at MITB.

Lesnar’s participation, meanwhile, is also a mystery. Meltzer reports that the ‘Beast Incarnate’ was originally booked for the event as it was a stadium show. However, WWE have since moved to the event to a smaller arena, which may have changed those plans.

Of course, the new poster may be a change of approach simply to promote other Superstars. But fans have still been left surprised nonetheless.
