Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty during France vs Morocco at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The 2018 champions and the African giants are battling it out in the quarter-finals at Boston Stadium in Foxborough, USA.
Kylian Mbappe has penalty saved against Morocco
Going into tonight, France were favourites to beat Morocco. However, having witnessed how well Morocco has performed in recent years, fans aren’t writing off the underdogs by any stretch of the imagination.
However, after just 25 minutes, the 2x World Cup winners received a massive opportunity to go in front when Noussair Mazraoui brought down Kylian Mbappe inside the box.

Alas, the legend had to wait three minutes before he was allowed to take his spotkick, which he fired with minimal power. Yassine Bounou easily saved the effort to keep the game level.
On the broadcast, Ally McCoist described the attempt as a: “shocking penalty.”
Of course, fans were quick to head to social media to give their reaction to the miss.
One joked: “Just watched a McCoist penalty v Motherwell. No stuttering run – arrowed into the corner. Perfect. Mbappe should watch some McCoist highlights!”
Another added: “That’s another one to add to the long list of bad penalty kicks taken during this World Cup.”
A third posted: “Absolutely shocking penalty. Emulated Lionel Messi’s from the other night.”
Luckily, in the 60th minute, Mbappe redeemed himself with an excellent goal.

Throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026, Mbappe and Lionel Messi have looked nothing short of brilliant.
However, for some, the Argentine is still that little bit better than the Frenchman.
