The pair of footballing icons have massively impressed at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with Messi making history and Mbappe scoring an epic goal of his own.

Kylian Mbappe is undeniably a special player, with the natural-born goal-scorer capable of leaving defenders in the dust before rendering goalkeepers helpless with his powerful shots.

However, in his own eyes, he’s not quite on the level of his Argentinian rival.

During a press conference, the Frenchman was asked who’s the best between himself, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Mbappe replied: “Lionel Messi, it’s clear. He’s the best in the world with Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s shown during 15 years that he had an amazing quality. I try to do what I can do on the biggest stage, helping my team win another World Cup

Lionel Messi weakness exposed

Like the rest of the world, Mbappe rates Messi extremely highly.

However, as good as the genius is, nobody is perfect.

During this tournament, a Messi weakness has potentially been ‘exposed’.
