Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek is reportedly ‘obsessed’ with Arsenal and will even watch their games during Spotify board meetings.
Over the course of the last few days, Ek has emerged as a potential new owner of Arsenal Football Club. Alongside Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira, Ek wants to try and become the new face of the Gunners with a proposed bid to take over from KSE and Stan Kroenke.
Daniel Ek – the superfan?
Up to this point it doesn’t seem as if Kroenke is willing to sell, but the fans seem to be pretty invested in the idea.
Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solekhol recently spoke about the lengths Ek will go to in order to support his side.
“Ek is open to having fan representation on the board if he buys the club.
“Ek is willing to offer the Arsenal fans if he buys them.
“He’s an Arsenal obsessive. He watches every single game, including on his laptop in Spotify board meetings.
“He’s been to many, many games at the Emirates and Highbury. He eats, sleeps and breathes Arsenal.
“He’s very, very serious about buying Arsenal, and so are the three legends.”
Few could have imagined this would be on the table a few short weeks ago and yet, here we are.
Arsenal supporters want to do something to shift the status quo. From protests to letting their voices be heard online, they seem intent on getting Kroenke out of the club in any way they can.
There’s a decent chance this whole idea could fall flat on its face before it really gets off the ground. Still, even opening up the door to this conversation is a massive step in the right direction.
The European Super League may be dead but there’s still a long way to go in this battle.
