The trailer for Netflix’s new Pelé documentary has arrived

Netflix is set to add another must-watch sports documentary to its already impressive back catalogue, this time honing in on Brazilian icon and three-time World Cup-winner, Pelé.

Ahead of the film’s release next month, we’ve been given our first glimpse of what to expect in a new teaser.

According to Netflix, the film “tells the story of iconic footballer Pelé, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he attained. The story looks back at the extraordinary 12-year period in which Pelé, the only man to win three World Cup titles, went from superstar in 1958 to saviour in 1970; a radical yet turbulent era in Brazil’s history.”

“As well as unprecedented interview access to Pelé, the film includes astounding archive footage and interviews with legendary former team-mates including Zagallo, Jairzinho and Rivellino.” The description continues.

Produced by Pitch Productions, directed by Ben Nicholas and David Tryhorn and executive produced by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald, the project is certainly in good hands.

The doc joins the likes of Last Chance U, Icarus and Bobby Robson: More Than a Manager as another of Netflix’s must-see for any sports fans.

PELÉ will drop on Netflix February 23.
