A lot has been made of Chelsea’s indulgence in the transfer market, as the club celebrated the lifting of their transfer ban by recruiting some of the best attacking talent from around the globe.
German forward Timo Werner was one of those marquee signings, after racking up some serious numbers with RB Leipzig over the last couple of years.
However Werner seemed slightly taken aback by the sheer size of Brighton’s Premier League defenders after his side came away with a 3-1 win last night.
?”I have never played against 3 defenders like this so tall, so big massive defenders!” ?

“Yeah, Premier League is different football because I think defenders… I have never played against three defenders like this so tall, so big massive defenders,” Werner said.
Werner didn’t seem to disheartened by the physical side of things though: “for me, it makes it really fun. Especially in the first half, I have a lot of space where I can do my runs.”
In fairness to the attacker, Adam Webster and Lewis Dunk aren’t exactly petite in stature.
Despite spending more than £200m so far on forward-thinking players, all three goals came from unlikely sources, with Jorginho netting a penalty before defenders Reece James and Kurt Zouma got on the scoresheet.
Reece James’ hit was particularly *chef’s kiss*.

Chelsea are set to face Liverpool next, in what is definitely the pick of the weekend’s fixtures, particularly given the jibes between Klopp and Lampard over transfer spending.
