Gabriel Martinelli secures 2-1 victory for Brazil against Japan

Going into tonight’s Round of 32 match, Brazil were monumental favourites. However, Japan wasn’t willing to go down without a fight. And that was evident when the underdogs broke the deadlock.

In a tremendous display of pace and skills, Kaishu Sano scored an amazing goal for Japan to give his side the lead.

Alas, the determined team was unable to maintain the position. Right after half-time, Casemiro equalled the score.

For the rest of the game, Japan did everything they could to hold off the 5x champions. But in the end, they just couldn’t do it. Six minutes into stoppage time, Bruno Guimarães beautifully picked out Gabriel Martinelli, who slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to seal the victory for his country.
