Brazil have just defeated Japan in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32. And it isn’t great news for England.
The South American giants bounced back after going down in the first-half to win 2-1 at Houston Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

Tonight, Brazil entered the match as huge favourites, which is why it was such a surprise when Kaishu Sano scored for Japan.
However, they battled back, with Casemiro hitting the back of the net early in the second-half, before Gabriel Martinelli clinched the winner for Brazil.
This win has major ramifications for England, who play DR Congo on Wednesday. If ‘The Three Lions’ emerge victorious, then their last 16 fixture will likely be against Mexico.

This is where it gets interesting. Had Japan been able to see the game out, England would’ve had a quarter-final date with Japan, Ivory Coast or Norway. However, now, they’ll most likely have to battle it out with Brazil, making the path to FIFA World Cup glory much more difficult.
