Wayne Rooney slams World Cup half-time show

Half-time shows are a staple of American sports, with the Super Bowl renowned for the musical performance that takes place during the interval. However, the Brits are less accustomed to the spectacle, with Wayne Rooney very unimpressed by what he’d witnessed.

After Madonna drove Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldinho out onto the pitch in a bizarre-looking vehicle, the likes of BTS and Justin Bieber gave performances in front of the fans in attendance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.

Following the conclusion of the musical interlude, BBC host, Gabby Logan, asked the pundits about their personal favourite moment, to which Joe Hart and Micah Richards both gave positive answers.

However, in a testament to his honesty, the former Manchester United striker felt he had no choice but to deliver a rant, which will go down in British television history.

He admitted: “I’ll be honest, mine was when it finished. I like a lot of those artists, but I thought it was c—. I did, honestly. It just didn’t get me going, I wanted the football to come back on. It was too flat. I like Burna Boy, Justin Bieber and Shakira, but that was too flat.”
