Tonight’s match pitted two unbeaten teams against each other in an eagerly-anticipated showdown.
USA had looked nothing short of fantastic in their first game, defeating Paraguay 4-1. Meanwhile, Australia had hit the ground running with a 2-0 victory over Turkey.
However, despite the Southern Hemisphere side’s bright start to the competition, things quickly came tumbling down this evening.

Just 11 minutes into the match, the ball was crossed into the box, where Cameron Burgess smashed it with explosive power, sending it spiralling into the back of his own net.
Of course, fans were quick to head to social media to comment on the error.
One said: “What a goal,” while another added: “Cameron Burgess has been practicing for that goal all season.”
A third posted: “At least Cameron Burgess can do it on the international stage as well.”
To make matters worse, USA doubled their lead with an Alex Freeman goal in the 43rd minute, leaving Australia with a lot of work to do in the second half.
