Wolves share clip of Jimenez training with the ball at his feet

Wolves have shared an encouraging video of forward Raul Jimenez taking part in training exercises.

It’s one of the first times the Mexican has been seen with a ball at his feet since the serious head injury he suffered against Arsenal in late November.

The comeback is on

A nasty clash of heads with David Luiz led to a lengthy stoppage in play before Jimenez was rushed to hospital. There it was confirmed the striker had sustained a fractured skull and undergone surgery.

However Wolves have remained positive on the progress made by the Mexican, and have now released a clip of him back on the training pitch with a ball at his feet.

While there’s still a long way to go you’d have to think these clips exhibit huge signs of progress, especially given that many were left fearing the worst just a matter of months ago.

But if there’s one thing we’ve come to learn about Raul, it’s that he’s got a whole lot of heart.

Return of the king

Jimenez is spotted chatting to manager Nuno Espirito Santo before teammates watch his solo training from afar. They’ll be understandably eager to see him return, but equally, they just want to see their friend fit and healthy.

Wolves have certainly missed Raul’s scoring touch with the club still lingering down in the bottom half of the Premier League. Of course, his absence isn’t the sole reason for that, although it’s definitely a contributing factor.

Fabio Silva and Willian Jose have both tried to step into his shoes with little success thus far. Youngster Silva has certainly showed glimpses, but it’s hard to replicate Jimenez’s natural talent and experience.

For now all we can do is watch his recovery hopefully go from strength to strength.
