Over the years, the company has worked hard to create dream matches with athletes from different eras battling it out to find out who’s the best.

Who could forget watching Hulk Hogan hand over the torch to The Rock after a titanic battle for the ages, or The Undertaker adding another notch to his streak after defeating Ric Flair in an inter-generational showdown?

On April 2, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin returned for one final match against Kevin Owens. Now, Vince McMahon is building towards next year’s big attraction, and it’s looking like there’s an absolute super-fight on the horizon.

Roman Reigns vs The Rock at Wrestlemania 39?

The pair of wrestling icons are cousins, but that doesn’t mean they’re unwilling to put ties aside to give people what they want.

At this stage of his career, The Rock has transcended wrestling to become a Hollywood superstar. However, with an itch to compete still niggling away, it appears as if he’s debating coming back for one last epic outing.

The wrestler’s incredible life is currently chronicled on NBC in the form of a sitcom. ‘Young Rock’ gives the viewers a first-hand view of what the superstar’s life was like. It’s a bit like ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ but with less Chris Rock and more The Rock.

On a recent episode, the athlete is enjoying watching wrestling with his family. Then suddenly, he’s ambushed by a young Joe Anoa’i (Reigns), who jumps on his back. The future WWE World Champion asks his older cousin to wrestle.

The Rock responds: “No, the world’s not ready. A match that big can only happen at Wrestlemania.”

Fans have begun speculating that this piece of dialogue is foreshadowing a future collision between the pair. However, if they had just one hint at their disposal, then the WWE Universe could be excused of wishful thinking. But this clip from ‘WWE Evil’ has added a gallon of fuel to the fire.

This show explores the stories of the greatest villains in the business and analyses how they’ve become so successful. Peter Rosenberg claims that there isn’t a Samoan superstar alive bigger than The Rock. The edit then cuts to a clip of Reigns on the ‘Tonight Show’ laying down the gauntlet.

When asked if he’d fight his relative, he replied: “I would, yes, but I don’t know if he wants it.”

Regardless of how much Reigns achieves, he’ll always be in his cousin’s shadow. But a victory over The Rock at Wrestlemania would certainly help his case.
