WWE legend John Cena, 45, opens up on fitness regime, hints at wrestling return

Although fans haven’t seen John Cena in WWE for quite some time, his strict workout regiment has given them hope that his return isn’t too far away.

In July, the wrestling icon made his triumphant return to the company. He then attempted to win a historic 17th world title against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam a month later. But despite a noble effort, he ultimately came up short.

A few weeks later, he bounced back from the loss and defeated Reigns and The Usos alongside Rey and Dominik Mysterio in a dark match. This would mark his latest farewell from the company.

Due to his remarkable career in WWE, Cena has developed mass popularity and transcended the sport that put his foot in the door. He isn’t just a wrestler anymorehe is a global superstar.

Rather than continue to enhance his legacy in the ring, he’s taken an upwards career step into the world of Hollywood, starring in hits like ‘Fast and Furious 9‘ and ‘The Suicide Squad‘.

But despite his commitments and advancing age, fans still believe he’ll make a comeback. And that may happen sooner than they think.

John Cena reveals intense fitness regime

Cena is 45 years old and still looks in the prime of his life. Granted, to find success in Hollywood, you have to find the right image.

But the wrestling star continues to train as hard as he always has. Having said that, as he’s gotten older, he’s had to make adjustments.

In an interview with Adam Glyn of Adam’s Apple, he said: “Fitness has been a part of my life since I was 13. I don’t change for profession, I change for time. I’m older, so I’ve got to stretch a little bit more, I’ve got to warm up a little bit more, I’ve got to rest a little bit more. Recovery, it’s a thing.

“It’s more just trying to maintain strength. I am 45 now. I try to stay as strong as I can, I try to move as much as I can.

“So, strength compound movements, Olympic lifts, and a smattering of narcissistic showmanship curls here and there. But if you follow my training, it’s kind of been the same for the last 20 years.”

Despite carving out a successful acting career, John Cena still loves WWE, and with a significant milestone coming up, he’s heavily considering a return to action.

He said: “I know in WWE years, I turn 20 pretty soon, so that’s a big thing from a pretty storied class of folks. Batista, Randy Orton, Brock [Lesnar], we kind of all turn 20 this year. I am aware that is coming around the corner, and who knows.

“But it is one of those hard truths to bare, there’s a lot of cool stuff going on, and I don’t want to say no to any of these opportunities that are on my doorstep. I don’t know when I will be back, but hopefully, it is soon. I’ve been gone for too long.”
