EXCLUSIVE: Zack Gibson has challenged The Hardy Boyz, to a monster showdown between two legendary tag teams.
The popular English wrestler is coming off a huge weekend. Alongside James Drake, The Grizzled Young Veterans defeated FSU on home soil in Liverpool to win The Burning Heart Wrestling Tag Team Championship belts, before defending the titles the very next day in enemy territory against The Models in Manchester.
Since joining forces, Zack Gibson and James Drake have established themselves as one of the best partnerships in all of wrestling, complimenting each other brilliantly to produce enthralling match-ups that leave the crowds on the edge of their seats.
Now, with The Burning Heart Wrestling Tag Team Championships around their waists, Liverpool’s number one, would love the opportunity to battle it out with Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy in a clash that would be guaranteed to create fireworks.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the 34-year-old beamed: “GYV vs The Hardy Boyz is a marquee match anywhere in the world. The first promoter to put that on is the winner, in my opinion. I think there’s money on the table.
“There’s still more than a handful of dream matches that are still on the cards for us. We’ve been doing this for 20-odd years, but along the line, every year, there are new up-and-coming tag teams that appear on the scene, who are innovating in new ways we haven’t seen before, adding new twists. That’s the great thing about wrestling — it never stops. There’s always someone hungry coming from behind you. There’s top singles guys forming tag teams and before you know it, there’s a new dream match on the cards. So, it’s still just as exciting as the first year that I was on the job.
“Hardy Boys are still top of my list. I was a big Jeff Hardy fan when I was a kid. I tried to emulate his style and realised it wasn’t for me. But I’ve now carved out my own niche with James Drake as a tag team, and it’s very different to The Hardy Boyz. I think we’d make fireworks together.”
Zack Gibson reveals what Shawn Michaels taught him
With natural power and palpable charisma, Gibson was born to be a professional wrestler, utilizing his skills to forge a fearsome reputation, before finally earning his shot with the WWE. During his time with the company, he won the NXT UK Tag Team titles, and spent copious amounts of time eating Tesco meal deals with the legendary Shawn Michaels, who taught him so much about the business.

The athlete explained: “Wrestling is so subjective that it’s hard to pick the best ever, it’s almost impossible to say that any wrestler is the best to ever do it, but if I was to say Shawn Michaels is the best ever, there’s nobody in the world that can laugh at me for that answer. He has to be considered one of the very best to ever do it.
“To be sat underneath that learning tree, as you can imagine, there are very few people in the world with the knowledge that he has. We thought we had things figured out, but we were humble enough to still listen and still try to learn. After really getting in the weeds with Shawn, that’s when you realise, we’ve just levelled up in this one conversation. Shawn has a mind for it where he can turn little things on their head, which didn’t feel that important, but he gives you this alternate way of looking at it. Then, suddenly, you start hearing an audible difference from the crowd, and the whole thing is so much better. He’s one of the best that’s ever done it in the ring, and he’s a fantastic coach to those who are willing to listen and learn from him. I’ve got all the time in the world for Shawn, and if ever he was around, I would always ask him for advice and try and learn from him as much as I could.”
Zack Gibson is making waves with Burning Heart Wrestling
Having already achieved so much in the sport, Gibson has now joined forces with some of the best minds in the business, to form Burning Heart Wrestling, where he’s giving the stars of the future an opportunity to thrive.
The Scouser enthused: “We’re trying to encourage the next generation. Part of that is physically getting in there with them and passing on the knowledge that we’ve been lucky enough to learn from Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom, Terry Taylor, Christopher Daniels, Chris Jericho. This advice that we’ve accumulated over the years, we’re running these seminars to pass that on to the young guys and girls in the UK, whilst also offering somewhat of a try-out scenario, where we can harness these guys and get them onto the show and point them in the right direction.”
