Alexander Isak’s Thierry Henry comments will excite Arsenal fans

Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak is the latest frontman to reportedly interest Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The North London club is in desperate need of a new striker. Their former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has fallen out of favour at the Emirates. His form has dropped substantially this season, and now Mikel Arteta is looking to unload the Gabon international.

According to the Daily Mail, Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal currently lead the race for his signature.

The other problem that the Gunners have is that both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract at the end of the campaign. Only Folarin Balogun, who is currently on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, has a deal into next season.

It looked like the Gunners could solve their problem by securing Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic. The supremely-gifted Serbian could have made a massive impact at the Emirates.

However, his current club have accepted a bid from Juventus, which leaves Arsenal in a spot of bother. However, they have been linked with another forward who could take the Premier League by storm.

Alexander Isak could move to Arsenal

This season, Alexander Isak is making a massive splash in La Liga. The Real Sociedad frontman has scored seven goals in his nineteen appearances for the Spanish club this campaign. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that he’s generating attention from all the biggest teams in Europe.

However, despite reported interest from five-time Champions League winners Barcelona, the Swede could move to Arsenal. The English side’s apparent interest shown in him is very much reciprocated. He loves the team and their club legend, Thierry Henry, who has inspired him to get where he is today.

In an interview with Swedish YouTube channel Min Stora Dag, he said: “I have a lot of football players who I have looked up to and have taken a lot from. But if I have to name one, I would say Thierry Henry, who I have really liked all the time and where I see many qualities that I have tried to follow.”

Isak adores the legendary French international. Henry tore apart the Premier League, scoring 174 goals. He defined an era at the club. In doing so, he helped them become only the second team to complete an invincible season in England’s top flight in 2004.

But who’d have thought he’d still be helping his former secure new players, albeit indirectly, all these years later?

If Isak does sign for Arsenal, he will be hoping to have just some of Henry’s impact on the club.
