Arsenal have been given a real good shot at beating PSG in the Champions League final by a former winner of the competition.
The two sides have secured a place in Budapest, with the English team showcasing tremendous skill to knock Atletico Madrid out, while the French giants overcame Bayern Munich in a thrilling tie, winning 6-5 on aggregate.
Owen Hargreaves says Arsenal can beat PSG
After Bukayo Saka’s heroics at the Emirates last night, Arsenal are now well and truly on the cusp of their greatest season ever, with an opportunity to clinch the Premier League and the Champions League having become a very real possibility.
After tonight’s clash between PSG and Bayern Munich, Owen Hargreaves opened up about whether ‘The Gunners’ can complete the fairytale story.
And having won the competition himself back in 2007-08, with Manchester United, there’s no doubt the retired footballer knows exactly what he’s talking about.
During the TNT Sports broadcast, Hargreaves explained: “Arsenal have a chance without question. With that defense they have, the goalkeeper, they’re brilliant. Declan Rice, lately has played in defensive midfield, he’s brilliant there. I think in a one-off game, they can definitely do it.
“This PSG team, do they attack, or do they sit in and defend and hit you on the counter? They’ve got different ways of doing it, but that will be fascinating. I think PSG will be more attacking than they were against Bayern, but this is a different Arsenal now. They believe now, with Saka coming back with big goals in big moments. They have a chance, they just have to believe.”
The final of the competition will take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30.
