Mikel Arteta says Viktor Gyökeres was ‘Immense’ in the Champions League semi-final

Going into this evening, Arsenal knew they had to deliver something special in front of their raucous home fans. After Theo Walcott hyped up the supporters, it was time for the current generation to deliver on the pitch.

Right before half-time, Bukayo Saka pounced on a saved effort to score the goal that would ultimately book his team a place against either PSG or Bayern Munich in Budapest, Hungary.

However, while Mikel Arteta was absolutely thrilled with the English international, he was even more blown away by the display from Viktor Gyökeres, waxing lyrical about the Swede in his post-match interview.

The manager beamed: “He was immense. You can see the reaction of the crowd every time he was holding the ball. His work rate and what he gives to the team is just incredible.”

Now, with the final just weeks away, Arteta will be hoping that both Saka and Gyökeres, as well as the rest of his squad, are firing on all cylinders, for what is arguably, the biggest match in the club’s history.

Premier League would prefer Pep Guardiola as his manager over Mikel Arteta

While tonight was brilliant for Arteta, he’s not crossed the finish line in Europe or even in England yet.

In order to win the Premier League, he’ll have to overcome a determined Pep Guardiola, who wants to sweep the title away from him.

Interestingly, while Arsenal lead for now, a football icon is very worried for the boss.

In a candid interview with Sporf, a legend explained why he’d want Guardiola as his manager over Arteta.
