Becky Lynch takes unexpected dig at part-time WWE champion Roman Reigns

WWE superstar Becky Lynch fired shots at fellow wrestler Roman Reigns on Tuesday on Twitter, criticising Reigns’ commitment.

Becky Lynch has recently turned face at the WWE, redeeming her reputation with fans and gaining her a loyal following. Lynch had previously been a heel since her 2021 return at SummerSlam, holding the WWE Women’s Championship until WrestleMania 38.

Following her defeat at the hands of Bianca Belair at SummerSlam 2022, Lynch’s role changed. The wrestler turned face and has formed a strong bond with the fanbase, leading to further confidence from the 35-year-old.

In the past, Lynch was not been known for sharing her thoughts, but that seems to have changed. On Tuesday, she even took a shot at part-time WWE Champion Roman Reigns.

Lynch criticised Reigns

WWE on Fox tweeted “Who did it better?” with two images: one of Reigns with his two titles and another of Lynch with her pair of belts.

‘The Man’ replied, “Me, I showed up to work.” This was a dig at the fact that Reigns has had a part-time schedule at the WWE since the most recent WrestleMania.

This response shocked the WWE world.

Some fans did not take too kindly to Lynch’s comments. One follower responded: “Sadly, your reign was ended by Charlotte. Roman’s is definitely better.”

There were also plenty of other replies, some of which agreeing with Lynch and others criticising her dig at Reigns.

How is Reigns ‘part-time’?

Since WrestleMania 38, WWE Champion Roman Reigns has been appearing in the WWE on a part-time basis.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion now only makes sporadic appearances on Raw and SmackDown. He missed Hell in a Cell and Money in the Bank in June and July and returned for SummerSlam on 30th July.

Reigns’ absence leaves fans to speculate about when he may next be appearing, with some nailing him on for particular pay-per-view events such as WrestleMania 39.

There are also rumours that he may participate at Clash at the Castle in September, the first major WWE pay-per-view held in the UK for 30 years.

Despite his part-time status, Reigns remains the WWE’s biggest star. For Lynch to go after him, she is no longer afraid to speak her mind and backs her own following.
