Bruno Fernandes gets huge wage increase in bumper new Man United contract

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has received a considerable wage increase in his new four-year bumper contract.

Rewarded for the impact he’s made in his time in Manchester, the Portuguese international has signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils. With just under 90 goal contributions in all competitions since joining in January 2020, Fernandes has established himself as an integral part of United’s squad.

When they have struggled for quality on the pitch, Fernandes has often driven the floundering United team. A linchpin in the Red Devils’ midfield, it’s hard to imagine where United would be without Fernandes at times this season.

Languishing in sixth, the Manchester-based outfit will likely miss out on Champions League football altogether this season. Disjointed from top to bottom, the incoming Reds’ boss has plenty of work to do.

Reports suggest Ajax manager Erik ten Hag leads the race to take over from interim Ralf Rangnick in the summer. However, no matter the man in charge next season, it’s likely a significant rebuild will have to take place before the campaign kicks off.

With an ageing squad and reinforcements needed elsewhere, it’s shaping into a busy summer at Old Trafford. What’s more, doubt continues to be cast on the future of much-maligned club captain Harry Maguire. Unlikely to be an easy job for whoever is in charge, there will at least be one key player remaining at the club.

Huge wage increase for Man United star man Bruno Fernandes

Having committed his future to the Premier League side, Fernandes will no doubt be a crucial asset to United’s rebuild. A dynamic midfielder with plenty of creative nous, the 27-year-old signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until June 2026.

By then, Fernandes will be well into his thirties, implying this deal could be his last at an elite European club. As one of United’s most important players, it’s unsurprising to see the Portugal-born midfielder rewarded financially for his performances.

As reported by the Athletic, Fernandes is likely to take home a whopping £240,000 per week from his new deal. Said to have doubled his wage with the new contract, it moves Fernandes in line with United’s fellow big earners.

United’s highest-earner, Cristiano Ronaldo, pockets close to £375,000 per week at the club. De Gea, Pogba, Varane, Sancho and Rashford are all believed to earn over £200,000 per week.
